Move More, Where You Are

Hi there! I want my first post to be a message I find really important when it comes to Restorative Exercise.
I think that when most people start on this journey, we want to dive deep and hard. I think a lot of that is cultural conditioning. “Power through!” mentality.
But what if being our best in body is not usually powering through pain, exhaustion, and wonky joints and muscles? What if being our best self is being present with what we are in body, right now, and not trying to push through anything?

My encouragement for you is to simply move more, where you are, right now. Go ahead, stand up and do a calf stretch (above)! Place the ball of your foot on top of a dome, and making sure your heel can comfortably touch the floor, move the other leg slowly forward until you feel a stretch in the calf muscle of the non-domed leg. That may mean your non-domed leg is BEHIND the domed leg. That is fine!! Know and honor your boundaries.
Or maybe you have a little stretch of typing ahead of you. Make sure to occasionally stretch your arms all around and above you.
Or do a lunge to pick up your children’s toys with them.

Restorative Exercise is about moving healthier in your everyday life, right now. This doesn’t require ripping muscle or crying through pain. So, let’s start this lovingly, for ourselves!

Intentionally,

Jess
